From  September 26  till  October 2   Saint Petersburg was visited by a delegation of American submariners and next of kin representing the crews of the USS Thresher and USS  Scorpion.
On  September 29 they  took part in Memorial Program events and Service for died on duty Russian and American submariners which was held  in the St.Nicolas Cathedral and Russian Naval Academy.
The Program was initiated by Dr. Roger Dunham, his shipmates - former crewmen of USS Halibut, and by our Club. USS Halibut was engaged in the top secret mission of search for the sank K-129.
The main purpose of the joint action was to  declare  our obligation and gratitude before courage of lost submariners - the heroes and victims of the Cold war, bringing the sense of most heartfelt condolences to the next of kin of the K-129, USS Scorpion and USS Thresher crewmen.
One of the participants said: "We are gathered by common sorrow and grievous loss of our lovers and we hope that our loss helped to understand unreason of hate and antagonism among people" and these word are the best illustration of the spirit of that meeting.
